First Donation of Scientific Equipment from CERN Reaches Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology (KIPT) in Ukraine

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, the first donation of scientific equipment from CERN, facilitated by the collaborative initiative of the EU-funded EURIZON project and the Copenhagen-based non-profit association RI. Logistica, successfully arrived in Kharkiv. The “Ukraine Initiative” establishes a vital logistical pathway to aid Ukrainian research institutions in resuming operations amidst ongoing challenges.
DESY delegation meets Ukrainian students and EURIZON fellows in Kyiv

On October 1st, 2024, a delegation from DESY joined a group of Ukrainian students, scientists and EURIZON fellows for a discussion meeting at the Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv. The event aimed to celebrate the resilience of Ukraine’s scientific community in challenging times while laying the foundation for future collaborations between Ukrainian and European researchers.

In a jubilant graduation ceremony held in Milan, on May 10, at the University of Milano-Bicocca, a cohort of nine scientists and managers from research infrastructures (RIs) in Ukraine celebrated a significant milestone in their careers – the completion of their part-time Executive Master in Management of Research Infrastructures (EMMRI), thanks to the support of EURIZON Fellowships.
EURIZON Fellowship Programme for Ukraine Finally in Full Swing

The third round of proposal evaluations for the EURIZON Fellowship Programme for Ukraine has concluded, resulting in the selection of additional 34 groups of scientists in Ukraine. These successful applicants and their team members will all be granted individual funding for a period of up to 12 months.
Technical collaborations come to an end, while support measures for Ukraine will still be ongoing to April 2025

After the deadline of the call for fellowships in May 2023, more than 750 applications were submitted. Due to this extremely high response, the EURIZON Secretariat announced that the evaluation process will take longer than previously foreseen, with the selection results to be announced several weeks later than initially expected and with the earliest starting date for awarded teams in fall 2023 (October).
